Everyone
- Gauge:
- A monitoring station, usually a Water Survey of Canada station, identified by its station ID (for example 02HB001).
- Flow status:
- Where today's flow sits among past flows for the date: below median (< P50), normal (P50–P75), elevated (P75–P90) or high (> P90).
- Normal range:
- The shaded band on a chart: the 10th to 90th percentile of past flow for each day of the year, with the median dashed. It is history, not forecast uncertainty.
- 6-hour block:
- The average flow or level over six hours. The forecast is issued in 6-hour blocks and as daily means.
- Lead day:
- How far ahead a forecast value is: lead day 0 is today.
- Unlocked gauge:
- A gauge your organisation has taken a plan slot for. Only unlocked gauges show the river forecast.
- Natural / total inflow:
- At a reservoir, the inflow that would arrive without upstream dams (natural) or with them (total).
- Gauge datum:
- The local reference level that a gauge's water level is measured from.
- RMSE:
- Root-mean-square error: the typical size of a level forecast's error, in centimetres.
- Threshold line:
- A named flow or level your organisation sets for a gauge, drawn on charts and used for emails and reports.
- Message level:
- The kind of flood message a report is (for example Flood Watch or Flood Warning), set in Report settings.
- Termination:
- A message level that ends a chain of messages, such as All Clear.
- Model card:
- A gauge's page of model scores, details and limits.
