Forecast Disclaimer: Public Agency version

Version: 2026-10-10

Used instead of the general Forecast Disclaimer for users of an organisation flagged as a Public Agency (conservation authority, municipality, ministry, First Nation government or other public body responsible for flood messages, emergency management or water control). It applies on any plan.

FlowAi forecasts are model guidance for your qualified staff. They are one input to professional judgement, alongside your own monitoring, models, observations and local knowledge. They are not an official forecast and FlowAi is not a warning authority.

Expect forecasts to differ from what the river does. Model error and input error (weather forecasts and gauge data from third parties) mean actual flows and levels will differ from any forecast, sometimes by a lot, especially further ahead and at peaks. A low forecast, or the absence of a FlowAi alert, does not mean there is no flood risk. Alerts can be late, missed or undelivered.

A qualified person decides. Forecasts may inform warnings, emergency and operational decisions, but must be reviewed by a qualified person at your organisation and must never be the sole basis for a warning, evacuation or structure operation.

Your messages are yours. Your organisation decides what to issue to the public and is responsible for its own flood messages and decisions, including those that use FlowAi forecasts. When you publish FlowAi values themselves, present them as model guidance unless you have adopted them as your own forecast.

Know which model you are using. Each modelled gauge shows its validation status and skill by lead day, and every forecast shows its model version and issue time. We notify you before material model changes.
